Cargo Hijacking Hotspots in Mexico: 2025 Trends and Risks
In 2025, violent cargo truck hijackings continue to threaten supply chains along Mexico’s key logistics corridors, especially in central Mexico. Much like in 2024, the first quarter of 2025 has seen a significant concentration of hijacking activity around Mexico City.
According to data from Reliance Partners’ Mexico Cargo Truck Hijacking Data Portal, just two states—Mexico State and Puebla—accounted for 82% of the cargo hijackings recorded in the National Public Security System during Q1 2025. In stark contrast, Mexico’s six border states neighboring the U.S. reported less than 1% of total incidents in the same period.
The CANACAR business chamber, citing private-sector data, reports that the state of Jalisco is now Mexico’s third most dangerous hotspot for cargo hijackings.

Highway 150D—connecting Mexico City to the eastern port of Veracruz—has emerged as the highest-risk route for violent hijackings. This major artery passes through both Mexico State and Puebla, reinforcing their status as red zones.
